As part of our architecture educational tour in Milan during Brera Design Days 2019, on Thursday 10th October, we are going to visit the renowned architecture firm Piuarch.
The educational tour is free thanks to our valuable partner Novamobili, one of Italy’s leading manufacturers in the production of furniture and systems, capable of creating elegant, comfortable home interiors, where modular systems are designed to bring together function and aesthetics. Novamobili strives to meet the demands of contemporary lifestyles with its range of clean-lined designs and extensive choice of finishes, stemming from research into materials and texture and its application to interiors.
Founded in 1996 by Francesco Fresa, Germán Fuenmayor, Gino Garbellini and Monica Tricario, Piuarch is a group made up of people with different backgrounds and different identities, who live in the awareness of these differences and consider them as a source of wealth for comparison, dialogue and the exchanging of ideas.
It is this heterogeneity that defines a harmonious whole, a kind of “orchestra,” where recognition of the group is stronger than personalization and the passion for architecture becomes the driving force. Piuarch takes its origin from this plurality of voices and, along with expressing the idea that the team is stronger than the individual player, it suggests the desire to work on a design with a strong relationship to the context, without an iconic status and always careful to guarantee environmental quality.
Piuarch works in the field of architecture, ranging from the design of office and retail buildings to the development of residential complexes and cultural recovery and urban renewal works, with attention constantly given to the values of environmental quality and the relationship with the context.
Piuarch is internationally known for its collaboration with some of the major fashion brands, alongside of which it has always experimented with social projects. The winner of the “2013 Italian Architect of the Year” prize and of two Gold Medals for Honorable Mention at the Milan Triennale, the studio has been exhibited several times at the Venice Biennale of Architecture and obtained numerous publications and dedicated monographs.
The Gucci Hub project has won several prizes such as Archmarathon Awards 2018, Wallpaper Design Award 2019 and Archdaily’s Refurbishment in Architecture Award 2019.
Each Piuarch project moves in the direction of architecture’s most exciting challenge: to improve the conditions of living together. And this can happen by providing users with structures having characteristics that encourage social interactions and stimulate well-being: natural lighting, acoustic comfort control, the introducing of relaxation, meeting or children’s play areas, the providing of both inside and outside protected areas, the rational organization of passageways, and the correct dimensioning of the rooms, systems and services are all elements that, as a whole, promote environmental quality.
On Thursday 10th October 2019 we are goin to visit other main Milanese architecture firms such as Piuarch, Tectoo and design international.
